The Merchant of Venice

Before I start any play what's most important for me is to understand the characters, if I don't have it all straight from the get-go I'm completely lost the whole play. This is just my little attempt to get a visual on the characters, yes it's dorky, yes it's childish but it helps me keep it all together.

  1. Did you draw this? This is great! My high school class did something similar to this when we read A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was more of one big picture/story map, but it was great for keeping the story straight, and it broke up each scene by drawing in between. I might copy this idea to keep the characters in line.

  2. I love this! Like Carlie said --great way to keep characters straight. I may steal this for teaching my future English classes :)

  4. Great idea. Do you do this before reading the play with the help of something like SparkNotes? Or is this usually something you do after reading as a sort of review?

  5. I love that you were willing to post these even though you are not an artist. :) I am with Tara and will probably steal this for many years to come. Thanks for sharing.
